The A820 sets new standards for entry-level cameras giving excellent image quality without the fuss of complex controls. Most of the modes have been automated, leaving you free to enjoy your photography without worrying about getting the settings right.
At the heart of this camera lies the new 8.3 m pixel Super CCD HR sensor, which is the reason why images of such high quality and clarity can be captured. A sensor of this size means that pictures will be rich in detail and colour, and will enable excellent prints to be made at 8" by 10" or even bigger.
Bigger Zoom - Closer Action:
Almost all compact cameras sport a three times zoom lens. The A820 breaks the mould by offering a four times optical range, equivalent to 39 mm - 156 mm on a 35mm film camera. In fact, a zoom range of up to twelve times can be used by combining both digital (x 3) and optical (x 4) zoom.
Large, Bright LCD:
The large, bright 2.5" LCD monitor is treated with an anti-reflective coating to prevent glare, making it easy to confirm settings and compose pictures, even in bright daylight.
Movies As Well:
The A820 can be used to record movie clips as well as still pictures. Up to nearly an hour of QVGA recording can be made on a 2 GB card at 30 frames per sec, with monoaural sound.
